It is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour in a given context.

Career information: The speciality area of Military Psychology is a branch of the psychology which a focus on military personnel and their families. Some of the responsibilities of a Military Psychologist include performing psychiatric evaluation, assessing and treating mental and emotional disorders and providing counseling service member and their families. In the United States, each branch of the military employs psychologists who work to treat active duty and retired military personnel. Job tittles of different types of military psychologists might include:


  • Army Mental Health Specialist
  • Army Psychologist
  • Navy Psychologist
  • Marine Psychologist
  • Air Force Psychologist
 Those students who specialize in Military Psychology will learn about the many various duties and responsibilities, depending on their area of specialization. Some Military Psychologists conduct research, perform tests, or treat mental and emotional disorders, Research in this field is general designed with the motivation of finding out which personality traits are best of certain military positions. Research may also focus on military specific issues such as how to most effectively treat some common mental ailments in the military, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is the responsibility of certain Military Psychologist to conduct mental health evaluation before recruits are mentally and emotionally stable enough to handle the stress of being in the military. Clinical and Counseling Military Psychologists are responsible of assessing, diagnosing, and treating military personnel with mental or emotional disorders. This and recommending a course of treatment. Some of the more common disorder (PSTD), depression,grief,anxiety, and sleep issue.

Forensic psychologists are most commonly licensed psychologists who specialize in applying psychological knowledge to legal matters. both in criminal and civil arenas. They hold graduate degrees in psychology, most often a PhD or a PsyD. Forensic psychology is a subdiscipline  of psychology. It has its own professional organizations, training programs, and research journals. Forensic psychologists are found in academia, public service, and the private sector.
