Water Filtration Plant

What is the filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass.

Examples are:

  1. OIl
  2. Cleaning
  3. Kettle
  4.  Heat

Materials

1.Filter paper
2.Funnel
3.Sand
4.Plastic bottle
5. Plastic cup
6. scissor
7. pebbles
8. dirty water

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle and don't throw the top half in the rubbish.

Step 2

Put the top half upside down.
STEP 3
Wait to your teacher for the next instruction or steps.

STEP 4
Add layers of sand down in the bottom part of the funnel.

STEP 5

Get 1 cup of dirty water and then wait for your next instruction.

STEP 6

Pour the dirty water into the pebbles and then check the water how many drops and what colour.

Findings

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute.
Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Minutes                          1.                         2.                   3.                    4.                       5.
Drops per minute:73
Watercolour: Dark brown
Conclusion:
I take a  video and photo while my group Khyle is counting how many drops in 1 minute.  So the first minute is 73 drop my friend Khyle count, then the second drop in 1 minute is 57 and the third drops in 1 minute is 46 and the last one drops in 1 minute are 38. We also watch how the colour change when we see other people colour almost dark brown, when our one is dark brown.

  1. Hi JV, this was a fun experiment and it was interesting to see how clear the water was after running through the filter. There is one small you need to add - please add the SAND into your STEPS as this has not been included. Keep up the great work JV
